Rabindra-Sangeet (Tagore Song): Amar Ange Ange Ke bajaye Banshi (Who Plays Flute In Every Pore Of My Entirety)

Composed: 17th Magh, 1342 (31st January, 1936)

Category: Prem (Love)

The Song in English Script:

Aamar ange ange ke baajaay baanshi.

  Aanonde bishade mon udashi.

Pushpobikasher shurey

Deho mon uthe pure,

Ki madhurishugandho Baatashe jaay bhaashi.

Shohosha mone jaage aasha,

Mor aahuti payechhe agnir bhaasha.

Aaj mamo rupe beshe

Lipi likhi kaar uddeshe,

Elo mormero bondini baani bondhon naashi.

The Song in English Translation:

Who plays flute in every pore of my entirety.

The mind is distracted, sore, ecstatic.

As the flowers bloom

my body and soul blossom in the same tune,

elegant fragrance

              in the air floats, wafting.

In a flash wakes up hope,

I invoke in the parlance of fire.

In this form and attire

I wonder whom shall I write the love message to—

wells up from within the confined voice, to set itself free.
